Premier Diagnostic Imaging now offers Lumbar Epidural Steroid Injections (62311) for relief from back pain.

Epidural Steroid Injections 

backEach ESI procedure at Premier Diagnostic is staffed by a nurse, a radiology technologist, and a radiologist.  Needle placement is guided under fluoroscopy.  Depending on the severity of the pain and inflammation, patients may receive a series of three injections.

Patient Instructions 

  1. You must have a driver the day of your procedure. You will not be allowed to drive home after the procedure.
  2. We recommend that someone stay with you for 12 hours after your procedure.
  3. You should drink plenty of clear fluid up to one hour prior to your procedure time to stay hydrated. Caffeinated beverages (colas, teas, coffee, etc.) are reccommended to help prevent post procedure headache.
  4. You should NOT eat any solid food for four hours prior to exam.
  5. If you are on antiplatelet or blood thinning medications, stop medications for the recommended periods below:
    • Wardarin (Coumadin) - Stop 5 days prior to procedure
    • LMWH - Stop 24 hours prior to procedure
    • Antiplatelet medications:

    • Aspirin, NSAIDS, and Persatine, etc. - Stop 48 hours prior to procedure
    • Aprixaban (Eliquis) - Stop 3 days prior to procedure
    • Pradaxa (Dabigatran) - Stop 5 days prior to procedure
    • Plavix (Clopidrogell), Effient (Prasugrell) - Stop 7 days prior to procedure
    • Ticlopidine - Stop 14 days prior to procedure
